Production Blog: Peer Review

Image
Hello blog, today we are going to have a peer review done on my finished film. With the film finished, and others being done as well, I can have effective criticism. With the criticism I can fix any error that could possibly throw off an audience. I decided to have my peer, Alexander, to review my film. I emailed him the film and now I wait.     While waiting for the response, I am expecting a few things. With the limited time, it might feel fast paced. The film might feel too dense, meaning it has too much for its little time. I also expect criticism on the lighting. I have now received the email from my peer.     My peer stated a couple of things about my film. I was right that my peer would mention the lighting. Also he mentioned the pace of the film. The pacing I unfortunately can not fix, but the lighting I can. I go into the editing software in order to change the lighting.     In the software I change the hues by about 10 percent. I then change the shadows and contrast sli

Production Blog: The Great Reset

Hello blog, I come here with sad news. I have just realized that I did the entire video wrong. What I did was have the credits in the end and beginning. The proper way was to have the credits throughout the entire video. I am going to have to re-edit the entire video.     Before I start inserting the new credits, I have to remove some of the clips. These clips include the clips I used for the intro credits and outro. Once I removed them I had to resize the background music. I snipped the music to fit exactly without the intro and end credits. I then inserted a scene I had removed.     The scene I had sadly removed before due to it causing the video to go over two minutes. With it re-inserted, I balanced all the clips. Now the video is more balanced. The next step is to begin putting the credits. I have to make sure the credits are put throughout the video.     As I am putting the credits throughout, I am adding a couple new transitions. I added a couple of "dissolve" tr

Production Blog: Heads Up

Hello blog, there is something I need to tell you. There was a slight issue during the filming. The listed actor, Mike Aguilar had to leave around halfway of making the video. He was in town, and I decided to include him. Of course, this was before I found out he'd leave.     In turn, I decided to include my dad. He is around the same age as my neighbor and also had similar clothing. I dressed him similarly, gave him every detail. The only trouble was telling him the lines. I wont get into it but it took awhile.     I then took after we left off with my neighbor. I shot every scene. Some scenes although I did reshoot. This was generally for experimenting the different angles. I also wanted to attempt different shots.     I did the shots until sundown. This allowed for a very nice ending shot with the setting sun. I thanked my dad for the help of course. I wish this did not need to happen although. It does not look that bad but it definitely is a change.

Production Blog: The Final Editing Session

Image
Hello blog, today we are doing the final editing session of my film. With the music chosen, I am capable of finally finishing. The first thing I am going to do is recheck that all the clips are aligned. With this checked, I can check if the transitions still fit well. This is due to in the past, transitions has mis-timed due to saving errors.     With the quality of the transitions assured I plan on what I want to do next. I am thinking of adding new transitions and seeing how they fit. The first transition I want to experiment with is fading. With fading I can achieve an exponential showing of a new scene. Pairing this with a abrupt cut, the fade in will come out nicely.     Before I try to make any major changes with transitions, I want to do my intro credits and outro credits. I want to secure this now, so when I do the transitions the film will be complete. The style of the credits I want to have, is multiple groups of texting fading in then out. With this, it would be satisfyi

Production Blog: Music Finalized

Hello Blog, today we are finding music and gaining permission in order to use it. I am going to search on YouTube for accessible music. Looking on YouTube allows me to find unknown compositions. It also allows me to quickly gain permission as emails are associated in the YouTube Channels. I am searching for suspense background music.     The reason for searching suspenseful, is because I believe it would be the best fit. It would cover the general horror/eery feeling of certain scenes. As well as covering action scenes. I have found a playlist of different compositions. It is a mixture of multiple artists.      One artist has majority of the music though. That is who I am going to send the email confirmation to. To make sure the music fits well I played scenes with it playing. I enjoyed the tone and how well it fit. With this in mind, I send the email.          I told the artist my first name, and what I was seeking. This allows me to get to the point fast and explain what I want w
