Production Blog: Heads Up

Image
Hello blog, there is something I need to tell you. There was a slight issue during the filming. The listed actor, Mike Aguilar had to leave around halfway of making the video. He was in town, and I decided to include him. Of course, this was before I found out he'd leave.     In turn, I decided to include my dad. He is around the same age as my neighbor and also had similar clothing. I dressed him similarly, gave him every detail. The only trouble was telling him the lines. I wont get into it but it took awhile.     I then took after we left off with my neighbor. I shot every scene. Some scenes although I did reshoot. This was generally for experimenting the different angles. I also wanted to attempt different shots.     I did the shots until sundown. This allowed for a very nice ending shot with the setting sun. I thanked my dad for the help of course. I wish this did not need to happen although. It does not look that bad but it definitely is a change.

Production Blog: The Final Editing Session

Image
Hello blog, today we are doing the final editing session of my film. With the music chosen, I am capable of finally finishing. The first thing I am going to do is recheck that all the clips are aligned. With this checked, I can check if the transitions still fit well. This is due to in the past, transitions has mis-timed due to saving errors.     With the quality of the transitions assured I plan on what I want to do next. I am thinking of adding new transitions and seeing how they fit. The first transition I want to experiment with is fading. With fading I can achieve an exponential showing of a new scene. Pairing this with a abrupt cut, the fade in will come out nicely.     Before I try to make any major changes with transitions, I want to do my intro credits and outro credits. I want to secure this now, so when I do the transitions the film will be complete. The style of the credits I want to have, is multiple groups of texting fading in then out. With this, it would be satisfyi

Production Blog: Music Finalized

Image
Hello Blog, today we are finding music and gaining permission in order to use it. I am going to search on YouTube for accessible music. Looking on YouTube allows me to find unknown compositions. It also allows me to quickly gain permission as emails are associated in the YouTube Channels. I am searching for suspense background music.     The reason for searching suspenseful, is because I believe it would be the best fit. It would cover the general horror/eery feeling of certain scenes. As well as covering action scenes. I have found a playlist of different compositions. It is a mixture of multiple artists.      One artist has majority of the music though. That is who I am going to send the email confirmation to. To make sure the music fits well I played scenes with it playing. I enjoyed the tone and how well it fit. With this in mind, I send the email.          I told the artist my first name, and what I was seeking. This allows me to get to the point fast and explain what I want w

Production Blog: The Final Shoot

Image
Hello Blog, today we are going to do the final few shots needed for the film. We are going to prepare by collecting all the equipment, and making sure the conditions outside are good. With the conditions properly checked, we can now proceed and continue the shots. First I prepare the shot before hand. Then I reshoot it to make sure it transitions well.     I begin shooting the approach into the park. I angle the cameras, and shoot the shot. I then find a good tree that is not small, for the next couple of scenes. Once I found the tree, I angle the camera. After the camera is angled I decided to make a couple of shots.     I repeated the first scene maybe around 3 times. This was to make sure that I could get the right speed and timing. I continued on with the next shot. I have ideas with the kind of timing I want to do from doing all of this. I continue the routine of recording everything at least twice.     I am near the end now. I continue with the routine of steps I take for e

Production Blog: EDITING again

Image
Hello blogger, we are going to edit the new shots into the video. First, I have to import and organize the shots into the already in progress video. After doing so I need to make sure none of them corrupted. Then, I need to snip them and mend them together. Finally, we can move onto editing the shots and transitions.     The main transition I am going to use is cutting. Which means I am gonna have to snip any clips again in order to make the transition work. I have an idea, but I will share that later. So far, I snip the clips. I double checked to make sure the sounds and transitions are smooth and not choppy.     The idea I have is incorporating fade in/out transitions. This may seem out of place although. So far I am sticking to keeping the cutting transitions. I believe I might have to tweak the lighting. Only in the more bright shots.          The lighting in the darker areas compared to moving outside, creates a weird contrast. Especially when doing a cut transition. That is

Production Blog: Filming Again

Image
Hello blog, good afternoon, today is the second filming and I hope to finish as much as possible. We are starting where we left off at the fridge. This is right before the killer gets tot he victim. I prepare by positioning the camera to the angle I like. Afterwards, I made the first shot.      The next following shots I repeated my process of repositioning the camera, and making the shots. I have made a slight change, but it is just a test. I wanted to see if I made the camera lower, I could get better quality. If the lighting were to be bad, it would help me readjust easily. The shot came out fine, but just in case I made the original shot as well.     Now, I have to move back outside, as we just made the killer and victim scene. I have to angle and position the camera precisely again. As I have to get both cars, and an even angle on the two detectives. I moved onto the next portion which replicates a similar angle of the victim walking in. After I get this shot, I take a break

Production Blog: Editing

Image
Hello blog, today we are going to start the first editing session. In this editing session we are going to insert the credits, and combine all the shots taken. First, I need to insert the clips into the editing software. The clips take time to be imported into the software. Once it is, I can get started.     The first action I will take is organizing each shot. After I organize the shots, I am going to put in the credits. The transition I will have for each shot is mainly cutting, I might incorporate fades later. I will lengthen each line of text to last for each shot. After putting in each credit, I move onto the next group of shots.     Each shot has to be transitioned well. They are still gonna be cuts, but I need to time them well. After snipping each shot, the transition is smooth enough. As of now, I do not believe I have to change any of the visuals. This means saturation, brightness, points.      For the next editing session I have some ideas. These ideas are for transiti

Production Blog: Filming

Today on my blog, we are going to talk about the first film day of the video. I wanted to get the first few scenes down. These scenes were the intro, and the murder scene. First, I started to set up the camera and the walk around for in the intro credits. Then, I practiced how I was going to walk around and angle the camera.     At first, doing the scenes were very difficult. This is due to having to have the camera be very straight, supported and moving. I got it down although, I made the credit scenes work and flow well. Now, its onto the beginning scene of the story. This will be difficult as well, as it will take lots of effort to get the angle correct.     I start off the long angle. It takes a couple of tries but I again achieve the look that I wanted. From the long angle, I prepare the next shot. This shot would be of the victim walking inside. As soon as soon as I prepare this, I have to shoot it then move on right away.     After doing so, next was trying to position the k
